Background

JTS Advisors, LLC is led by former U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Field Office Director for the Newark Field Office, John Tsoukaris. Mr. Tsoukaris led all immigration enforcement activities and programs in the entire state of New Jersey, the most densely populated state in the nation with one of the highest percentages of foreign-born individuals, for 15 years. Prior, Mr. Tsoukaris led the NYC Field Office as the Deputy Director. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tsoukaris led national oversight programs with Legacy Immigration and Naturalization Service and ICE at the agency Headquarters in Washington, DC. His experience includes development of national policies with respect to removal management, detention management, custody determinations, operations support, policy compliance, technology modernization, and congressional liaison.

Over the years, Mr. Tsoukaris was credited with developing strong relationships with law enforcement executives and prosecutors at all level of government resulting in joint initiatives with positive public safety outcomes for the residents of New Jersey by identifying, arresting and removing foreign-born individuals involved in criminal activity. Through his collaboration with law enforcement, he was instrumental in ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) participating and becoming a permanent member of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and Criminal Enterprise squad in Newark, NJ. This resulted in the arrest and prosecution of violent foreign-born gang members, individuals wanted for serious crimes abroad, international theft and fraud rings, as well as aliens involved in national security threat activities. This relationship and measurable results led to the joint operations initiative between ERO and FBI being replicated in several other offices around the nation. Most recently, Mr. Tsoukaris led a large task force consisting of ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, CBP, USMS, and IRS personnel to arrest and remove illegally present aliens in the U.S. in line with the President’s Executive Order on Immigration. Mr. Tsoukaris’s leadership and representation made clear ERO’s critical role in public safety and national security.

Mr. Tsoukaris also collaborated with local community groups, Non-Governmental Organizations, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association to further the ICE mission and maintain good relations. He regularly represented ICE in the media, in seminars, and at universities throughout the state to highlight the importance of the ICE ERO mission. In addition to ensuring accountability and integrity of personnel involved in enforcement operations, Mr. Tsoukaris mentored subordinates and established programs to develop high potential employees for future leadership positions.
